In prior versi0n of the Oracle database (12, 19c, 21c) when invoking ORA_SFT.LIST_EX the internal conversion from Java data type to PL/SQL type was working without any issues.
With Oracle 26ai when invoking the ORA_SFTP function from another schema, the following error occur:
ORA-00932: expression is of data type an object that could not be converted which is incompatible with expected data type a return value that is an instance of a user defined Java class convertible to an Oracle type
ORA-06512: at “SCHEMA_A.ORA_SFTP”, line 202
ORA-06512: at line 7
00932. 00000 – “inconsistent datatypes: expected %s got %s”
The reason for this behavior is that inside the owning schema, Oracle tolerates the ambiguity. Across schemas, it will not.
- exact SQL type identity
- domain/type ownership correctness
-
no cross‑schema guessing
This is now fixed in version 1.5.2.24. If you experience this error after migrating to Oracle 26ai, you can upgrade to the latest version.
